Market Split: CA Web Sales to US Entity & CA Retail sales to CA Entity

Topic summary

Goal: Use one Shopify store for two legal entities. Route all online sales and US POS (point-of-sale) to the US entity with payouts in USD via the US Shopify Payments account, while routing Canadian POS sales to the Canadian entity with payouts in CAD via the CA Shopify Payments account.

Key constraint (latest update): A single Shopify store can only connect to one Shopify Payments account. Payouts can’t be split by sales channel (e.g., online vs POS) within the same store.

Implication: The desired split of payouts by entity/channel isn’t supported natively with one store using Shopify Payments.

Possible workaround: Investigate third-party payment apps that might offer split settlement functionality. Availability is uncertain.

Status: Unresolved. Next step is researching/confirming app-based solutions or reconsidering store/account structure.

We have a unique business entity/market configuration, and I cannot seem to figure out how to set it up properly in Shopify.

We have 2 business entities: our ‘USA’ entity & our ‘Canada’ entity. Our online store sales (regardless of which market they are from) should all flow into our USA entity, our US Brick & Mortar sales through POS should also flow into our USA entity (all should payout in USD to our US Shopify Payments account). However, our CA Brick & Mortar sales through POS should flow into our Canadian entity (should payout in CAD to our CA Shopify Payments account).

We were hoping we could leverage the same Shopify store to support all of the above. How can we setup our account to support this?

HI, @hd-evo
Shopify stores typically do not support the simultaneous use of multiple Shopify Payments accounts for a single store. Each Shopify store can only be linked to one Shopify Payments account. This means all orders processed through Shopify Payments will be settled into the same account, and funds cannot be split by sales channel. However, I am not certain if there is a payment app with split settlement functionality available to handle this. It is recommended that you research this further. If such an app exists, this issue will be resolved.
