HI, I am wondering if I can achieve the model I want with shopify?
It’s a hybrid bricks and mortar/online gift shop with lots of different suppliers but I want our stock suppliers to be able to login to a backend to monitor stock and sales of their products only, and get email alerts if stock is low or a sale is made.
Also want reports to differentiate between POS sales which the suppliers receive 100% of and online sales which the suppliers receive 70% of.
Yes, this model works on Shopify with vendor based apps like multi vendor inventory and pos reporting tools. Vendors receive restricted logins, product-level sales dashboards, low stock alerts, and automated emails. Commission rules split POS at 100% and online at 70% via payout and reporting apps integration.
Hey! Yeah Shopify can handle the multi-location stuff (POS + online) no problem. The supplier login part is trickier though - Shopify doesn’t let suppliers see just their products natively. You’d need a consignment app like Consignly or a marketplace app, or something like Orlio that has a supplier portal.
The commission split thing (100% POS vs 70% online) is honestly the hardest part. I don’t know of anything that does this automatically - you’d probably end up exporting sales and doing the math yourself or in a spreadsheet.
Might be worth talking to a Shopify Expert who knows consignment setups, it’s pretty niche. How many suppliers are you looking at?
@mercfab, Shopify does not natively support sending stock alerts to vendors or letting vendors view only their own product sales details and commissions.
This is possible using Report Pundit. You can create a separate report for each vendor that includes only their products and the fields you choose to show, such as product title and inventory quantity. You can share a report link with a passcode so vendors can view their own data, and they can adjust the date range if needed.
You can also set an inventory threshold so that when stock drops to the number you set, an automated email alert is sent to the vendor through report scheduling.
The report can also be split by sales channel, such as Online and POS, and commissions can be calculated based on different percentages. Please contact support to get this report set up.
