I have to add more tags to certain collections in our shopify store. We have around 3400 SKU’s so there is a lot of work. What is the best way and to go about this in bulk editor? I’d rather not do an export and then add tags in excel and import.
I appreciate the context that you have shared with us. Looking into this, if you are needing to bulk tag your products - it would be best to export your products on a CSV file to make the corresponding changes. You can then import the product CSV file to have it overwrite the current product tags. This would be the best current method to add the tags to the products.
Good idea. We have had issues with exporting and importing in the past, so I would like to do an import and only import one or two columns, because I don’t want to mistakenly alter other fields such as product description, meta descriptions, quantity, etc.
Sometimes on an import these strange characters appear in the product description.
I can certainly understand what you mean there. At the moment, there is not a specific way to export only the product tags to make changes to them. However, I can provide this feedback to our developers as a suggestion as I can see how this would be beneficial for all merchants. If you are worried about making unwanted changes to the CSV file, you may want to use the bulk editor to add the products tags.
Also, if you want more control over managing the tags, or if you want to upload a spreadsheet of just tags to edit, I would recommend checking out our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor app. The app is built for managing product data on larger stores and also has a 1-click undo so you can revert any changes if you need to.
