In my opinion:
This change in policy may present some challenges for merchants who are seeking refunds for apps they have purchased through the Shopify App Store. Previously, when a merchant contacted Shopify Support to request a refund, Shopify would reach out to the app developer on the merchant’s behalf to facilitate the refund. This made it easy for merchants to request refunds and ensured a smooth and efficient process for both merchants and app developers.
With this new policy, however, merchants will need to contact app developers directly to request a refund. This may result in a more complicated and time-consuming process for merchants, especially if they are not familiar with the app developer or do not know how to contact them. Additionally, it may result in slower resolution times for refund requests, as app developers may not have the same resources as Shopify Support to handle a high volume of refund requests.
On the other hand, this change may be beneficial for app developers who will now have a more direct relationship with merchants and will be able to address refund requests more efficiently. It may also help to reduce the workload on Shopify Support, allowing them to focus on other areas of customer service.
Overall, while this change may present some challenges for merchants in terms of requesting refunds, it may also result in a more streamlined and efficient process for app developers.
My Question is:
Can the refund process for Shopify app charges be handled through Shopify’s API, and does Shopify provide an API to process refunds for merchants?
