Hello there,
i am not new to Pixel- and CAPI Integration.
I have been using the native shopify Channel to integrate Meta Pixel and CAPI for around 3 Years.
Last year in september i suddenly did not see any server events for purchase anymore in my events manager, but only there. Browser events still firing and server tracking seemed to work for all other events.
As i could not find the issue, i changed to the Omega-App to integrate Pixel and CAPI, which works fine so far, but my tracking scores in Events Manager dropped quite a bit.
So i just wanted to see if the native integration is working for me again, just to find out that it is not showing ANY server events for ANY Event-Types anymore…
I already reconnected it, reinstalled the “facebook & instagram”-app in shopify etc…
Does anybody have a clue what could be the reason here? What i could check to find the issue?
Thank you!!
Hi,
I think it sounds like Shopify’s native Meta CAPI integration is failing to send server events. First, check Meta Events Manager > Data Sources > Diagnostics for any error messages related to server events. Ensure Advanced Matching is enabled in the Shopify Facebook & Instagram app settings. Also, verify that Event Deduplication isn’t causing conflicts between browser and server events. If the issue persists, test with Shopify’s Debugging Mode in Meta Events Manager and confirm that your Pixel ID matches exactly in both Shopify and Meta. Since Omega works fine, Shopify’s native CAPI might still be experiencing issues, maybe consider reaching out to Shopify Support for backend verification.
Hey there,
Looks a bit tricky. Did you try running diagnostics or using Meta Pixel Helper to track the issue or your base code?
Well, I am assuming that since you’ve tried everything, how about you try integrating some other Shopify app for this job? I know one that uses server tracking and also offers CAPI - AdNabu’s Facebook Pixel. It’s a free app and I am only suggesting this because I feel you have already tested out every way to resolve this issue.
I hope this helps you in some way!
Sounds frustrating! Since you’ve already tried reinstalling and reconnecting, here are a few things to check and I hope it can help you :((
- Pixel Duplication Conflicts – If Omega is still installed, it might be interfering with Shopify’s native CAPI. Try fully removing Omega and testing again
- Event Matching Quality – Check if your event match score in Meta Events Manager is low, which can indicate issues with customer data passing through CAPI
- Permissions & Data Sharing Settings – In the Facebook & Instagram app, ensure that Enhanced Data Sharing is turned on and that you’ve granted all necessary permissions in Meta Business Manager
- Ad Blockers & Browser Restrictions – Test in an incognito window with no extensions to rule out browser-based blocking
- Meta Debugging Tools – Use the Test Events Tool in Meta Events Manager to see if any server events are detected at all
- Recent Meta API Changes – Since this issue started in September, check if Meta made updates that require additional setup on Shopify’s side
If nothing works, Shopify support or a Meta business rep might be able to check logs on their end
Hi,
As far as I know, Pixel is a piece of code you add to your website to track user actions and optimize your Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ads. The Pixel sends browser-based events, which can be blocked by iOS 14+ and ad blockers. To address this, Facebook and TikTok introduced server-side tracking with the CAPI feature, allowing events to be sent directly from the server. This method bypasses restrictions from iOS 14 and ad blockers and you can use 3rd party applications to configure server side.
To check scores in Meta’s Event Manager:
- Go to Events Manager in your Facebook Business Manager.
- Select your Pixel.
- Check the Diagnostics section for any errors or performance issues.
- Review event performance and Event Quality score.
- Monitor tracked events like Purchase or AddToCart for accuracy.
