Meta Pixel not detected despite active status in Shopify

I’ve set up my Meta Pixel through the official Facebook & Instagram app on Shopify (no manual code added). In Meta Events Manager, both the Pixel and Conversions API show as Active. However, when I check my store with the Meta Pixel Helper extension, it doesn’t detect any Pixel.

Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  • Pixel is connected correctly in the Facebook & Instagram app (Data Sharing = Maximum).

  • Pixel ID in Shopify matches the one in Events Manager.

  • Tried in different browsers/incognito mode with ad blockers off.

  • In Events Manager → Test Events, I don’t see browser events firing (only server-side/CAPI events).

  • Read through similar issues on the Shopify Community but haven’t found a clear solution.

Question:

  • Is it normal with the Shopify integration that only server-side (Conversions API) events show up, and no browser Pixel is detected in Pixel Helper?

  • Or should the browser Pixel also fire in addition to CAPI?

  • If it should fire, how can I fix this so that the Pixel is properly detected?

Hello Ta1yo,

I had the exact same problem. I fixed it by implementing the Meta Pixel Code manually to my Theme.liquid code ( between the <head>) tags ). You can do that by clicking on the top left button which says: Connect Data ( or somthing like that ), in the events manager. And instead of doing the partner integration you select the manual version. After clicking this optin, you will get the code you can integrate in your Shopify Code.
But with this method I ran in another problem. It only tracks the customers movement until the checkout button. After the customer is on the checkout page, the will be no data tracked, and my Pixel Helper shows me the same notification as yours. I’m also trying to get this to work so I can track real website purchases with this Pixel.

Yes, the browser pixel should also fire. The reason it isn’t showing could be due to manual code conflicts, issues in the theme or settings, or browser/extension issues.

To fix it:

  • Remove manual code: To do so, go to Online store >> Themes >> Actions >> Edit code >> search for Facebook or Pixel in the theme. Liquid file and remove all the pixel code snippets. Save the file.

  • Customer privacy settings: If a cookie banner is enabled and set to “Require consent,” the pixel won’t fire until you click “Accept.” This could also be the reason your pixel isn’t working.

  • Try reconnecting the app.

If you are still having issues, we recommend you try the Nabu for Facebook Pixel app for precision conversion tracking and ad optimization through Facebook pixel integration. It has a free and paid plan starting from $9.99/month.
