WIthin the last seven days, my Meta Pixel that I have been running successfully for the last three years has stopped sending reached checkout and purchased conversion data. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any solutions other than to try a new pixel?
Topic summary
A Meta Pixel that has been functioning properly for three years suddenly stopped tracking checkout and purchase conversion events within the past week.
Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:
- Verify pixel firing using Meta Pixel Helper
- Test event transmission through Meta Events Manager’s Test Events tool
- Check if browser-based privacy restrictions are blocking data (increasingly common issue)
- Consider implementing Conversions API (CAPI) to bypass browser limitations
Potential Root Causes:
- Issues with the Facebook and Instagram app (multiple users have reported conversion tracking problems)
- Browser privacy settings blocking pixel data transmission
- Pixel configuration errors
Suggested Solutions:
- Reconnect the Facebook and Instagram app
- Switch to a specialized Meta pixel app
- Implement Google Tag Manager (GTM) for more accurate tracking, which requires configuring custom pixel scripts, variables for dynamic values, custom event triggers, and event tags
- Combine Meta Pixel with CAPI for optimal event match quality
Images shared show GTM configuration examples and event tracking dashboards demonstrating proper setup.
you will have to troubleshoot the entire setup.
- start by checking if your meta pixel is firing by using the Meta Pixel Helper.
- also, check the event setup and if the pixel is sending events properly. for this you will have to use the test events tool in Meta Events Manager.
if you do not detect any issues, then most likely the problem is stemming from browser-based privacy settings (because you didn’t face any issues for the last three years.) with increasing privacy restrictions, the way meta pixels record and send data further, is getting affected significantly. and the solution to that will be using conversions API.
i would suggest verifying all the points i mentioned above. if those don’t help, then there might be some other issue.
also, can you share how did you create the pixels earlier? was it using the Facebook and Instagram app? because that app has also caused issues many times, and many users have reported that their conversion tracking was getting affected. if that turns out to be an issue then you might have to shift to a specialized Meta pixel app like Facebook pixels by AdNabu.
Hi jlosito,
Thanks for your query.
If you are using facebook and Instagram app try to reconnect and test again.
IF the problem still persists consider Google Tag manager GTM to configure facebook/meta pixel and conversion API(CAPI).
Google tag manager is the best possible way to track the events accurately.
to configure via GTM you would need to do:
-
Configure custom pixel GTM script
-
variables for dynamic value tracking(item name, item price, value, currency , transaction id and so on)
-
Trigger for each event using custom event trigger type
-
creating event tag for each event using template from the platform like facebook pixel and assign the variables and triggers to fire the event tag.
Feel free to ask If you have any questions.
Thanks
