I am trying to create a new product template other than the default one that I am using but I get a red box warning popping up that says:
“the metafield filter ‘products.metafields.descriptors.care_guide metafield tag’ in the dynamic source is not not supported.”
I had create 2 metafields as I was following the shopify tutorial and I went in to the metafields section under settings and deleted them but it still gives me this block..
It is not enabling me to create a new page template..
if you go into "Settings > Metafields > Products " and click on the meat field you want to use you will see a box called “Namespace and key” what do you have in there?
On what page in your shopify are you trying to access this?
If i go to Settings > Metafields > Products - that page then just shows me a blank page with “add new fields to products” and an add definition button..
Online themes - customize - drop down menu to products - below default product I click create template…
then the notifciation comes up and it doesn’t let me create one..
I was not looking to create a metafield but to add a new product template..
but it seems that metafields are blocking the creation of a new product template…? This is my issue..
i had gone ahead and created 12 different products and realised that they are all under the default template. As I understand this - it means that some of the information on my product page is kept as a default and therefore I am displaying the wrong information for some of my products..
for example i am in the Craft 2.0 template - under the add to basket button there are drop down text boxes for materials and care.. these are fixed to each product page under the default template.
I need to create another template as my materials info and care info change per product…
when you go to Online themes > customize > products default page
then on the left select the section you want to modify, on the right side you can fill in what you want.
While on the right side. if you type in text or make a selection that would static for all items.
if you click on the the circles icon, then you can select a metafield (or other values). if you select a meta field then for each item it woudl pull in the information listed on the item.
but before you do this you need to create the meta fields as i showed you in step 1.
If I make these changes on my “default product” page everything that is on that page will show up on all my other product pages that have the “Default product” allocated, correct?
let’s say I do want to create a new product page template - as I do! My problem is that it is giving me the error message in a red box:
“the metafield filter ‘products.metafields.descriptors.care_guide metafield tag’ in the dynamic source is not not supported.”
I have gone ahead and followed your advice: set up a simple meta field, when I go to allocate it to a text box on my product page by clicking on the insert dynamic source button all i get is a spinning circle..
so it eventually pulled up the metafield to choose from what i had set up in definitions… which was so exciting…
then when I went to save the same red box with the same error code came up and it would not save it.
I have tried with some other edits, like removing a section on the product page. The same error message comes up and i cannot save any changes..
Really we need to understand what I have done to create that error message and how to clear it.
In Metafeilds I had created a Care Guide metafield from the standard list, as part of a set up shopify tutorial. I later cancelled it in the settings - metafield - definitions space and since then this message appears..
now I only have 2 metafield definitions and no care guide definition do I don;t know where it is pulling the message from:
