metafields not populating to 2.0 theme

I am updating an old shopify theme from 2016 to a new 2.0 theme. I am setting up metadata in my products using the “custom data” sections. My new theme is a WIP/not live. When I go to insert the metadata the fields I have specified are not coming up as an option. I do however have the option of creating a metafield in the new theme. But when I do this data does not link back to my “custom data” section. I cannot find where I can edit this info.

I’m stuck in a loop. Any guidance on how I can move forward?

Hi @BSC2024 :waving_hand: take a step back and review what terminology your using to refer to things to make a better description of the problem and or provide screenshots for emphasis.

““custom data” sections” is not a thing, sections only have settings that are preprogrammed by the developer that may or may not be compatible with connecting them to metafields via the dynamic sources feature.

Reread the help and dev docs for usages of metafields, or dynamic sources if that’s what you mean by ““custom data” sections”
