Microsoft Clarity on the Checkout process

Topic summary

  • Core issue: Microsoft Clarity (a session-recording/behavior analytics tool) stops recording once shoppers click “Check out,” since the flow switches to Shopify-managed checkout.
  • Attempted approach: The poster explored Shopify’s Pixels (Shopify’s tracking framework for loading measurement scripts), but couldn’t get recordings on Checkout and isn’t seeing it work.
  • Key update: Microsoft’s Clarity–Shopify integration docs state Shopify does not allow third‑party scripts on Checkout pages. A screenshot was shared to support this, indicating a platform-level restriction.
  • Community reaction: Another participant asked if there are any updates or workarounds, expressing frustration about losing visibility into the post-cart part of the customer journey.
  • Status/outcome: No solution or workaround was provided in the thread. The limitation appears to be due to Shopify’s policy on third‑party scripts in Checkout, leaving the question open and unresolved.

I have Microsoft Clarity installed on my theme, and it’s been great to see the session recordings to learn more about customer behavior.

However, the recordings stop after the customer clicks “Check out” on the cart, as it goes to the shopify-managed checkout flow.

Is there a way to get these Clarity recordings to continue working on the Checkout page? I see there is Pixels now, but I’m not seeing that it’s working based on my limited understanding of the Shopify Pixels feature.

I’m seeing now on the Clarity integration page for Shopify that it states that Shopify does not allow 3rd party scripts on Checkout pages! :person_pouting:

You heard any updates on this? Seems ridiculous we no longer get to see the customers journey post checkout…
