Migrating from theme kit to shopify cli. TERRIBLE MISTAKE.

Hi,

I’m not sure if I’m the only one facing this issue, but I’ve been working with Shopify Theme Kit for at least four years, editing themes for clients. It has always been smooth and easy. However, every time I try using Shopify CLI, it doesn’t work well. There are bugs, errors, slow theme loading, and so on. Each time, there are completely new commands for the same functionality. Are you crazy? Every time, the login process is different and buggy.

Today was the cherry on top. When I tried to log in to another client’s account, it showed the old client’s website after a successful login. I had to restart my computer, which helped, but now some jQuery is not working for no apparent reason. Sometimes, it stops working altogether, causing the entire website’s JS to break.

Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong?

Hi Darius,

This for sure sounds like an impractical situation with the CLI - when you say a themes jquery is not working, is this in your local developer environment or on the live store? Using the CLI shouldn’t affect the live store unless you push changes. Also are you using a Mac or PC?

I am using pc. On the store preview theme everything is working fine. But when try “shopify theme dev” qjuery and another stuff doesn’t work. There is a ticket in github: https://github.com/Shopify/cli/issues/4172

right now I use mixed github + theme Kit solution(it is really easy mess this up and lose all changes) waiting with hope they will fix it soon.
