Migrating my Wix store over to Shopify

I currently have a store on the Wix platform, I would like to migrate it over to Shopify

Is this possible?
How difficult is it to do if it is possible?
Would the migration migrate all of my products, product descriptions, variety options, images?

I’m pretty limited tech wise, but I managed to build the original on Wix

Any help would be appreciated

Yes, it is completely possible to migrate your store from Wix to Shopify. Have you tried to do some research or what type of store you’re looking for?

Shopify indeed supports everything which you have mentioned that includes product descriptions, variants and images and many more detailed product customization.

We have a thread in the community called Store Feedback where merchants asks for feedback of their store and many experienced Shopify developers and partners gives some great advices and suggestions so I would highly recommend you to spend some time gathering some information from there as well so you don’t end up building a store that looks like “every other shopify store”

Yes, it’s definitely possible to migrate from Wix to Shopify, and many merchants make that move as their stores grow.

For a standard store, the process is usually not as difficult as it might seem. Shopify has built-in import tools, and there are also migration services that can help transfer data from Wix. In most cases, products, descriptions, images, variants, and other basic product information can be migrated.

That said, I’d recommend checking a few things after the migration. Product data often transfers well, but elements like page layouts, navigation menus, custom forms, apps, SEO settings, and design customizations may need some manual adjustment since Shopify and Wix work quite differently.

Since you were able to build your Wix store yourself, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to handle much of the Shopify setup as well. A common approach is to start with a trial store, import a small batch of products first, and review everything before moving the entire catalog.

Before starting, it may also be helpful to make a list of anything unique about your current store (custom options, subscriptions, bundles, special forms, etc.) so you can plan how those features will be recreated on Shopify.

Since you mentioned you’re not very technical, we’d actually suggest not trying to handle the migration entirely on your own.

Migrating from Wix to Shopify isn’t just about moving your data. You’ll also want to make sure everything is transferred correctly, then spend some time rebuilding your storefront and checking that everything works as expected.

It’s possible, and yes it’s a pretty common migration. You can migrate your products, descriptions, variants, images, customers, and orders using migration apps or import tools. The bulk of the work is rebuilding your theme and testing faetures that don’t have one-to-one equivalents. Since you have experience in building a wix store, you should be able to deal with the basics in shopify. After the migration, verify the product data, navigation and redirects to maintain SEO and customer experience.

Yes its possible, and I dont think its too difficult if you already built your Wix store yourself.

Basically I would do it like this:

  1. Export your products from Wix as CSV.

  2. Create your Shopify store first, then prepare the CSV to match Shopify format and import it there.

  3. After import, check your product titles, descriptions, prices, SKUs and especially variants. Images should also be checked because sometimes not everything comes over exactly right.

  4. Then you still need to set up things like collections, menu, theme, shipping, payment and policies on Shopify. These normally need some manual work.

  5. When everything looks ok, then connect/transfer your domain and test the whole checkout before fully moving over.

If you only have a small catalog I think doing CSV manually is fine. But if you have a lot of product listings, SKUs and variants, I strongly rcm using a third party instead. Less chance to mess something up tbh.

I tried a few tools before and LitCommerce was actually one I found by chance from Shopify Community. I liked it mainly for handling the product/listing side, so maybe worth checking if you have a larger catalog. I would still migrate a few products first and check everything before doing the whole store tho.

I am NOT liking shopify. I miss WIX, but made the switch because everyone uses shop pay and am hoping it leads to more sale conversions. ..::sigh::.. Wix is so much more user friendly and has so many more features as far as designing the actual site.
