Hello, I have a squarespace website that takes subscription payments through the stripe API. Is it possible to migrate to shopify and keep the recurring payments intact? I’ve looked around but wasn’t able to understand 1- if it was possible and 2- if it was, what was the best way to proceed. Does anyone have any advice here?

Your ability to migrate any subscription payments would depend on your payment gateway. Is your current payment gateway that is offering the recurring payments Square? If so, then migration wouldn’t be possible. However, if you’re using Ordergroove, Bold, Recharge, or Paywhirl, you could be eligible to migrate. Are you using any of these options?
Additionally, to be able to qualify your primary payment gateway would need to be Auth.net or Stripe.
If you are using the above, you would need to reach out to the platform above that you use and they can walk you through how to migrate the subscriptions from Squarespace over to Shopify.
In the meantime, can you tell me more about why you are looking to move platforms?

Thanks for your message. My squarespace is not connected to Square. All subscription payments are managed via the squarespace subscription extension and go through Stripe but without using other thirdparty app.
Are you saying that I should reach to do stripe to do the transfer?

That is great that you’re using Stripe! The only issue, is that for Shopify users to offer subscription charges, they need to use an app, it’s not in house. That being said this, this could work out to your benefit as Stripe may be able to transfer the payment information to the app you choose.
You will need to reach out to Stripe and inquire if they are able to transfer your customer’s payment information to Ordergroove, Bold, Recharge, or Paywhirl.
