Migrating to a new website: how to maintain SEO/Traffic from one shopify store to another

I am helping someone with their new shopify store and would love clarification on what they need to do in terms of maintaining their SEO optimization/google rankings/etc.

What makes this an interesting case is that their previous website was also on shopify as is their new website. Both websites will also have the same outwardly facing URL.

I understand that if you were migrating from a different platform you would need to do URL redirects etc.

I would be greatly appreciative of any advice or similar experiences!

Just make sure the new website is a copy of the current one.

And in starting after the migration is done, you can see minor fluctuations but it’ll be temporary if everything is in its place.

You would need to set up 301 redirects so you pass on the juice - so to speak
