MinMaxify users - Can this app limit quantity per customers (not Checkout)?

Topic summary

Limiting purchase quantities per customer across multiple orders (not just per checkout) using MinMaxify. The goal is to accumulate limits by customer or address.

  • Early suggestions included trying the free trial and potentially using custom code. One response indicated MinMaxify could limit by customer tags, referencing Shopify’s customer tagging.
  • Latest clarification: The original poster confirmed with MinMaxify support that tracking limits across customers’ past orders is not supported. MinMaxify enforces limits only within a single checkout.

Alternative proposed:

  • DC Order Limits claims it can enforce per-customer purchase limits across past orders.
  • Key differences:
    • MinMaxify: limits apply within one checkout session.
    • DC Order Limits: checks the customer’s purchase history to enforce ongoing limits.
  • Suggested setup in DC Order Limits:
    1. Create a customer purchase limit rule
    2. Set the maximum quantity
    3. The app validates against prior orders, not just the current cart
  • An attached screenshot illustrates the DC Order Limits setup.

Outcome: No MinMaxify solution for cross-order limits; an alternative app is suggested. The thread appears open without the OP confirming adoption.

I am looking to subscribe this app (MinMaxify).

I am particularly looking for a functionality to limit quantity that a customer can order. This will be accumulated by a customer (or by address), not just per checkout.

Does anyone know if MinMaxify has such capability? Thank you

What the important things this app can provide.

or you can get this functionality by the custom code.

You don’t have to pay the monthly recurring fees at all.

Let me know if you are really looking for this.
Thank you.

Hi yes, I am on my free trial with them

I just couldn’t work it out how to enable such functionality. Do you know how to? Or any contact that I can reach out to confirm it?

Explain with any refrence site what are you looking?
So that i can help you properly.

Hey @gwenlee ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some insight to Order Limits - MinMaxify and its functionality. For confirmation, I would recommend contacting the app developers directly but it is outlined that quantity can be limited based on customers using a tag.

I would recommend checking out our Managing Customers Documentation for steps on how to tag customer and/or customer groups to successfully set this up. It outlines however:

  • From the Shopify admin, head to Customers.
  • Click the customer name.
  • To apply tags to the customer profile, in the Tags section, do either of the following:
    • To add a tag, click the box, and then select a tag.
    • To remove a tag, click the X next to a tag.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Just confirmed with MinMaxify support team that this is not possible feature.

I saw MinMaxify confirmed they cannot do per customer limits that track across orders. DC Order Limits does.

Difference:

  • MinMaxify enforces limits within a single checkout

  • DC Order Limits can enforce customer purchase limits across a customer’s past orders

Setup:

  1. Create a customer purchase limit rule

  2. Set the max quantity you want

  3. The limit is checked against what the customer has already purchased, not only the current cart
