Missing AJAX product.js selling_plan_allocations

I have an app on a dev shop that reads through the AJAX selling_plan_allocations api: https://shopify.dev/docs/api/ajax/reference/product#selling-plan-example

It has worked fine. Today I created a new shop and product with selling plans. However the selling plans are missing from {my-product}.js

has something changed for new shops isn’t reflected in the docs?

Enabled shopify payments and the selling plans started showing instantly. FWIW, it was not required to setup payouts or verification, so this will work on dev store.
