Mix & Match Variants

Hoping someone can help as I have been through dozens of apps and have not found the right solution.

We sell a 4-pack of dog booties. Current variants are size and color. We need to be able to offer customer’s the option to choose different sizes and color for front and back paws. So they need to be able to mix and match the variants within that 4-pack.

Things we have already tried:

• selling in pairs (people get confused and think they are purchasing 4 boots, despite it being plastered all over the product page OR people guess the size and buy a pair instead of measuring so we see a surplus in exchanges)
• apps that allow limitless options - we need to be able to track color and size inventory independently and none of these work that way. They also add additional items to the cart at checkout, which creates checkout confusion.
• currently, an app that allows us to mix & match variants, while requiring a minimum purchase of 4. So far this is the best option, but there are limitations. We have had to change the product price to the price of a single boot, which means we can’t sell on FB or IG as the app does not translate. And, it’s not intuitive, people are still getting confused.

If Shopify would just allow for more variants, I think this would solve a lot of our issues as we could have separate “front and back paw sizes”

If anyone has ideas on how we can implement this, without spending thousands of dollars for custom development, I’m all ears! Thanks!
