Mobile menu: hamburger icon not working (just keeps on loading), website menu working.

Topic summary

Users of the Ella Shopify theme (versions 6.6.1 and 6.7.0) are experiencing a critical issue where the mobile hamburger menu fails to open on iOS devices—it displays a loading state indefinitely without showing errors. Desktop and Android devices work normally.

Key findings:

  • The problem is iOS-specific and affects multiple store owners
  • Both mobile menu and search functionality may be impacted
  • The issue appears isolated to certain installations, as the theme’s preview works correctly

Root cause identified:
A third-party app conflict was discovered—the conflicting app’s code executes before the Ella theme code, breaking the menu functionality.

Resolution:
Multiple users successfully resolved the issue by contacting Halo Themes (the theme developer) through their support ticket system. Fixes were provided free of charge within approximately 10 hours.

Current status:
Several affected users have been fixed. One user with an expired support license is seeking information about which specific third-party app caused the conflict, but this hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Hello guys,

This is urgent. When visiting my shop on a mobile, the hamburger menu doesn’t work (most probably on ios devices). The icon shows but when I click it, it just keeps on loading without showing any error message. I use the Ella theme version 6.6.1.

My shop is: www.bleuandblis.com
thanks in Advance!

Hey,

Just confirming for you and any other developers looking at this that it’s all working on Android. So, it must be iOS-related. Unfortunately, I don’t have an iOS device for troubleshooting, so I’ll need to leave that to someone else.

Thankyou! PLease, if there is anyone with ios, let me know if there is anything that we can solve.

Hello @Bleuandblis ,

Seems click function not working in IOS.
You need to go with a developer to check it.
Alternatively ask the theme support to fix it.

If you need me to fix it you can contact me by my email for services

You can find the email in the signature below.

Thanks

Hello. I am having the same problem with my website. I amusing Ella Version 6.7.0. Have you found a solution for the problem?

Same exact issue. I’ve reached out to theme developers and no response yet. Shopify took the time to look into it but could not find anything wrong. Also emailed the guy here to see how much to fix but haven’t heard back. Have only got 1 order today and sure it was a desktop device as no one on mobile can navigate the site. Losing money daily. This is a bummer.

Hey @Bleuandblis ,

It’s me again! I can see from the replies you’re getting that this might be an issue for quite a few people (such as @Trial_22 and @Jerry1973 )—and it may even be costing you and others some revenue.

I love seeing people’s stores performing at their best, so if you or anyone else experiencing the issue can give me access to their store’s theme code (I can send a request), I’d be happy to take a look and hopefully post a fix here for everyone. No promises, of course, but I’ll certainly give it my best shot.

I checked the the Jerry store and find 2 things are not working there using IOS

  1. Mobile menu
  2. Search
I was thinking maybe the issue was with all Ella theme users but I was wrong, preview of Ella theme works fine on all devices means the issue we are facing is due to JS conflicts or wrong customization.

Ok. Not sure how they fixed it but halo themes fixed it for me for free. I just had to put in a support ticket and took about 10 hours for them to help me out. But it was no charge.

Thank you so much for your update @Jerry1973 and @Olllie , mine got fixed too! :slightly_smiling_face: from Halo themes, they said that some third party app clashed with the ella theme , and that app ran its code before than ella theme code ran, so the problem occured ( i explained in a very non -coder way-haha) but anyway, its fixed, and hopefully we wont waste further any money :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello, can you please tell me what was the third party app clashed with the ella theme, because i’m having the same issue and my support license has expired…
