In https://admin.shopify.com/store//apps/translate-and-adapt/localize/online_store_theme_locale_content?highlight=shopify.checkout.shipping_errors.shipping_method_not_available_generic.one&id=126156996667&item=shopify&shopLocale=fr I am able to modify the error text, but regardless of what I change both English and French to, the actual message used by the checkout form remains the default message. How do I change this?
Topic summary
A user is unable to modify checkout shipping error messages in their Shopify store despite attempting changes through multiple methods:
Problem:
- Editing error text via Translate & Adapt app has no effect on actual checkout messages
- Changes made in Settings > Checkout > Edit Checkout Content also don’t apply
- Both English and French versions remain at default text regardless of edits
Specific messages affected:
- “Checkout shipping errors shipping method not available generic”
- “Checkout shipping errors shipping method not available updated”
Current status:
- The issue remains unresolved
- User suspects a “hidden default version” of checkout messages exists that overrides their customizations
- No solutions or explanations have been provided yet
Yes, I’m using Translate & Adapt, and modifying both available languages
Doesn’t seem to change anything. It’s as if there’s a hidden default version of the checkout messages, so when editing via either Settings > Checkout > Edit Checkout Content or via Translate and Adapt doesn’t actually change the text being used at checkout.
The two sections I’m trying to change are “Checkout shipping errors shipping method not available generic” and “Checkout shipping errors shipping method not available updated”
Not able to share a URL, sorry
It’d be great if someone could offer some insight here. I’ve changed the base text in the defaults for the theme and all the localized versions, but none of the changes are ever used by the actual live checkout.
