Modifying Shopify Checkout with checkout.liquid

Hey All,

We’re using Shopify Plus since more than a year now, but I have not yet explored what customisation options we have with Shopify Checkout (checkout.liquid file is available for us).
Our store is: shop.lykon.de

I would like to understand a) what options do we have for modifying checkout, b) what are the most common modifications that potentially boost checkout conversion rate and c) if you have any reference websites I could check out to get inspired?
