We got pushed over to the new analytics view for the month-end inventory report…but the numbers are totally different now and for previous months the numbers are much higher than the old reports. We have the old reports saved so we can clearly see the units and inventory are different numbers going back several months. Why the difference and which one is correct? We are an accounting firm so we have several clients we have noticed this in so it isn’t isolated to one particular client.
You’re seeing different (higher) inventory numbers in the new analytics view because the platform likely changed how inventory is calculated, and applied that change retroactively to past months. This is common when systems update analytics logic, data sources, or default filters.
Since it affects multiple clients, it’s likely a system-wide change, not a client-specific issue.
Action Steps:1. Check platform release notes or updates for inventory/reporting changes.
-
Compare a few items manually between old and new reports to spot logic changes.
-
Contact support to confirm what changed and which report should be used.
-
Document this for clients — the old numbers weren’t wrong; the method changed.
