As I have read through discussion topics over the past year, I discovered that many of us share the same frustrations but never seem to get answers - at least answers from Shopify. The most recent frustration that has surfaced concerns inventory reporting, and more importantly, the timeliness of such inventory reports, i.e, month end value report . If you are using the Basic Shopify you are well aware that reporting is limited anyway. In my desire to gain more reporting ability, I looked at upgrading Shopify. Aside from the fact that you would increase your monthly subscription fee by $50/month, I discovered that I still would not be gaining the reporting abilities that I needed. Thus, I went on a quest and I discovered an app that has served me well. It is not a free app. However, if you are using Basic Shopify an additional $10/month is more feasible than an additional $50/month and you get a lot more bang for your buck. The app is called Data Export Reports. Their reports are not limited to inventory. There are sales, vendor, customer, shipping, sales tax, and other reports. There is also tremendous flexibility in how you can structure your reports as to the information you need to include, etc. It may not work for you, but it works for me and I wanted to share. It gets me a lot more than I ever got or was ever going to get from Shopify reporting. Also, they offer a 15 day free trial so you can try it to see if you like it.
