I am using the Envy theme and on my checkout page it is showing the “express checkout” options first and then all the way down the CC option. It’s confusing my customers because they think the only way to pay is by using these “express” options and they just want to put in their credit card. Is there ANY way to change this?
It’s super frustrating because it seems like it should be something easy to do, not sure why Shopify is making this so hard.
Lol no, it’s not very “express” if the action to be used rapidly gets push down off the page below the fold.
To have credit card only disable all other payment methods.
If someone really wants to use a credit card they can scroll this is standard browser behavior.
If customers are so oblivious they don’t scroll and you wont disable excess payment methods then the only thing to do is attempt to improve your messaging to pre-educate them before checkout.
In checkout the for regular shopify-plans the most they can do really is change the header image to try and insert some sort of note or tutorial but that’s the type of thing that can tank conversions if not done with care.

They aren’t out to get you they can’t be everything to everyone.
It’s a platform for over a million merchants tailored for general usage and safe payment behavior.
If a merchant want deeper control of a checkout process they can get a shopify Plus enterprise plan or roll their own ecommerce stack taking on all the responsibility of that.
