Multi-currency checkout warning shows wrong currency when using third-party payment (Dintero)

Hi everyone,

We are experiencing an issue with multi-currency checkout in our Shopify store and I’m hoping someone here might have seen something similar.

Our store has NOK as the default currency, but we also allow customers to shop and check out in DKK.

We are using Dintero as a third-party payment provider, which redirects the customer to their payment page.

The issue:

When a customer shops in DKK and goes to checkout, Shopify shows a warning message saying something like:

“You will be charged XXX in NOK.”

However, this is not actually what happens. When the customer is redirected to the Dintero payment page, the amount is correctly shown and charged in DKK.

So essentially:

  • Customer selects DKK

  • Checkout shows DKK

  • Shopify warning says the charge will be in NOK

  • But the final payment with Dintero is correctly processed in DKK

This message could confuse customers since it suggests they will be charged in a different currency.

My question:
Is this expected behavior when using third-party payment providers with multi-currency, or is there a way to fix or remove this warning?

Any advice or experiences with similar setups would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

No this not expected.

There is no problem with Stripe and third party setup.
