Multiple outdated landing pages showing up in analytics

Topic summary

  • Issue: After launching a first ad campaign, Shopify Analytics (Top landing pages by session) lists multiple landing page URLs that resolve to outdated themes instead of the current site.

  • Support response: Shopify said these pages were created during development and, due to identified bugs, still register in analytics. They stated customers wouldn’t reach them unless typing the URL or being given the link directly.

  • User concern: Traffic originated from a video ad linking to the home page (automated clicks), not manual typing, raising doubts about whether users were misrouted or analytics is misattributing sessions.

  • Key question: Is this affecting customer experience (actual visits to outdated pages) or merely a reporting/attribution issue?

  • Status: Unresolved; seeking community experiences and clarification on whether this is a known bug and its impact.

Dear all

Ive just run my first ad campaign and after checking in the shopify analytics, under “top landing pages by session” a number of the links were leading me to outdated themes and not my actual webpage.

Customer Support:" these landing pages were generated back when the store was being worked on, however due to the identified bugs it is still registering on the analytics though customers will not be able to go to this link unless they type it in on the address bar or given to them."

But then, though customers did not “type” but were clicking on a video with the home address linked to it, all of this is automated.

Did anybody here experience a similiar issue or happens to know if this is a bug that affected customer experience or just a reporting issue?"

Many thanks
