my images are blurry when i upload them on the product page

Hi everyone!

I had photos taken by a photographer for my website and they look great however everytime i go to upload them on the products page they end up blurry?

PLEASE HELP - i have tried resizing!

Thanks for posting to the Shopify Community.

When uploading product photos to Shopify, I recommend using 2048 by 2048 pixels for square product photos. You can upload images of up to 4472 by 4472 pixels, with a file size of up to 20 megabytes.

Shopify supports the following image formats:

  • JPEG
  • Progressive JPEG
  • PNG
  • GIF
  • HEIC
  • WebP
  • AVIF

What image resizer are you currently using? If you haven’t, I recommend trying Shopifys free online JPEG resizer. You can resize a large image (4472px x 4472px), medium (2048px x 2048px) or compact (1024px x 1024px).

I’d also like to hear more about your online business, how you started and what type of products will you be selling.

Hi Victoria , yes I have used your mentioned resized and tried all sizes just to get something to work and used the correct format however it still isn’t clear. To my understand I’m not the only one having an issue with this but hopefully I will be able to resolve this prior to my up and coming launch!

I appreciate you going through the above steps to try and resize your images. I understand your launch is fast approaching and rest assured, I’ll do my best to troubleshoot further.

  • Could you advise what theme you’re currently using?
  • Can you share a screenshot of the affected images?

I would like to advise that Shopify automatically compresses images when they’re displayed in your store. Compressing an image means reducing the file size to allow for faster page loading. We determine the best possible file format to use when delivering your images. Another way you can try uploading your images is within your Shopify admin, Settings > Files section to see if the quality of the images remains the same.

Hi Victoria , I have tried all those methods above and it still remains blurry. I believe it is something to do with the actual theme

Since you’ve mentioned this may be theme related, I recommend creating a support request through the Shopify Help Center. The reason is, we do not have authenticated access to accounts via our community forums.
