My Shopify store order confirmation emails go to the Promotions tab in Gmail. I want them to go into the primary tab is that possible?

That is certainly a good question. While I would love to be able to give you an easy way to change this behaviour, these Gmail folders are actually completely controlled by Google themselves. Here at Shopify we have no direct way to control how Gmail routes emails into tabs and we do not know how exactly the Gmail logic works for routing emails to the ‘Promotions’ tab. It is also highly likely that their algorithm is constantly adapting and changing.
I did find a couple of third party resources that you could check out, which may offer some more insight into how you could try prevent this:
Besides the order confirmation emails, are you implementing any email marketing strategies? Did you know that if you are on a paid Shopify subscription plan, you can send 10,000 free emails a month using Shopify Email. Also, while we are on the topic of Gmail folders, Shopify Email actually automatically sends out emails in batches to help avoid getting caught in filters and to help improve delivery rates.
