I’ll start from the beginning, yesterday the website went down post which I contacted Hostinger, they said it was their SSL issue.
They claimed to rectify that and mentioned what needs to be done. Her message is as follows
In order for the SSL to be fully activated for your domain, you will need to delete those A records so the domain can be fully pointing to your IP address (109.106.254.122). Once they are updated, I would like to let you know that DNS changes takes up to 24 hours to get propagated worldwide.
I asked her to change the A records if that was the solution. She did. I was waiting for the propagation to happen.
The shopify asked for domain connection with the CNAME and A records to be changed, which i did
But when i went to the website it said that i need to delete some files from File Manager on upload something on FTP of Hostinger
I deleted the default file from Public_HTML from file manager post which I am seeing the current issue of ‘Index’
Are you still experiencing this problem? Looking over you message you mention that the A record was changed to 109.106.254.122 - If this is the case still then an SSL certificate will not be issued from Shopify, so this could be where the problem lies. In order to have your third party domain connected properly, and therefore get the SSL certificate, your domain must have the following settings:
On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.
Find the DNS settings or domain management area.
Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
If necessary, change the Host name to the [email removed] symbol.
You can have only one A record associated with your primary domain. If your domain is already associated with an A record, point it to the Shopify IP address, then remove the old A record. You can then connect your domain to your store’s admin by doing the following:
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains.
Click Connect existing domain.
Enter your domain, such as johns-apparel.info, and then click Next.
To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.
It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified and an SSL certificate to be applied. After it’s verified, your domain is listed in the THIRD-PARTY DOMAINS section of the Domains page with the status Connected. You can read more details about these steps in full here.
