We have experienced a fraudulent order that Shopify assigned a green risk score where the name registered with the credit card was different than the name entered with the billing address. The address matched, but the name was just different.
Why is that type of transaction not being declined or at least triggering a yellow risk score? If the name doesn’t match the billing, it’s very likely fraud. But there was no indication of possible fraud. All green and no warnings.

Us too! This is outrageous that cards are not DECLINED because of a mismatch of the NAME ON CARD to the account. We have been targeted for over $10k of sales and have lost most of it because the NAME ON CARD is not being verified. Our new process is to verify ID, Physical Credit Card, Billing Address, ownership of Delivery Address which is very time-consuming and could be avoided by more strict processing verification. Billing street address matches credit card’s registered address, but the NAME ON CARD is not being checked. The whole community needs processing to verify NAME ON CARD and DECLINE processing if it does not match.
