Feature Request: Native Checkbox UI for List Metafield Definitions

When a metafield is defined as a list type (e.g., list.single_line_text_field) with predefined choices, the product editor currently opens a modal where values must be selected one by one. This is time-consuming when managing large catalogs.

Requested improvement: Display the predefined choices as a checkbox group directly in the product editor, allowing merchants to select multiple values at a glance — similar to how tags or collections work.

Use case example: A metafield custom.language with choices pt, en, es, fr, de, it, nl, multi — being able to tick the relevant languages directly on the product page would significantly speed up catalog management.

This would be especially valuable for merchants managing large catalogs with structured data for marketplace feeds, translations, and filtering.

We work with merchants managing large and complex product catalogs, and we’ve identified a usability improvement that could significantly streamline product management workflows.

Feature Request: Native Checkbox UI for List Metafield Definitions

Currently, when a metafield is configured as a list type (such as list.single_line_text_field) with predefined choices, merchants must open a selection modal and add values individually. While functional, this process becomes inefficient when managing hundreds or thousands of products.

Proposed Enhancement

For list metafields with predefined options, display the available values as a native checkbox group directly within the product editor.

This would allow merchants to select multiple values instantly without opening additional dialogs, creating a faster and more intuitive editing experience.

Example Use Case

Metafield: custom.language

Available values:

  • pt

  • en

  • es

  • fr

  • de

  • it

  • nl

  • multi

Instead of launching a modal, merchants could simply check the applicable languages directly on the product page.
