Currently, Shopify POS only offers “Unfulfilled” and “Fulfilled” as fulfillment statuses. For retailers who handle special orders or layaways, there’s a gap — we need a status that reflects an order that has been paid for and pulled from inventory, but not yet picked up by the customer.

Marking these orders as “Fulfilled” is inaccurate because the customer hasn’t received the item. But “Unfulfilled” doesn’t reflect that the item has already been set aside on a hold rack.

Proposed solution: Add a third fulfillment status — something like “Ready for Pickup” or “On Hold” — that sits between Unfulfilled and Fulfilled. This would allow retailers to:

@CarlaIrv This is actually a strong operational insight. Shopify POS is missing a middle fulfillment stage for retailers handling pickups, layaways, or special orders.

A status like “Ready for Pickup” or “On Hold” would improve inventory accuracy, reduce staff confusion, and create a clearer customer fulfillment workflow between “Unfulfilled” and “Fulfilled.”

This is especially valuable for multi-location boutiques managing both in-store and ecommerce orders. The store link is not correct i guess
