I work with a few Shopify apps so here’s what I’ve seen work early on:
Your first priority should be getting 5 happy users with real reviews. Everything else builds on that. Offer hands-on setup help to your first installs, make sure they love it, then ask for a review.
For finding those first users: answer questions here and on Reddit from merchants in the footwear niche. Help them genuinely, mention your app only when relevant. Also try searching Google for Shopify shoe stores (“powered by Shopify” + shoes) and reach out directly with a personal message, not a mass email.
And make sure your App Store listing is solid before anything else. Clear screenshots, a description that explains the problem you solve, and a good demo store. Merchants decide in seconds.
