Hi Shopify Community!
We built a brand-new AI-powered sustainability app we’ve just launched in the Shopify App Store. As a new app in the ecosystem, we’re now looking to accelerate our growth through influencer collaborations and would love to tap into this community’s collective wisdom and experience.
Quick questions for those who’ve done this:
-
Finding influencers — Where do you find them? Micro (10K-100K) or larger accounts? How do you vet audience fit?
-
Deal structure — Revenue share vs. flat fee? What deliverables work best? (YouTube reviews, Instagram posts, TikTok demos?)
-
What drives results — Best platforms for app installs? Used Shopify Collabs or Afluencer? Realistic ROI timeline?
-
Attribution — How do you track which influencers actually drive installs?
If you’ve launched a Shopify app, please share:
We’re bootstrapping, so your experience is gold. Happy to help with sustainability/AI questions in return!

Thanks!

Hello! Congratulations on your launch! I have over 15 years of professional experience with Shopify. If you are interested in reaching an agreement as a beta tester, just contact me.
Best regards, and I wish you all the best!
Gonna have a bad time because at no point have you detailed HOW you think influencers can sell an app for you to merchants. *And also shopify shutdown the partner slack that would be perfect for this for app partners marketing
*
avoid magical business plans in communications. phase 1: do X , phase 2: ??? , phase 3 profit.
It’s right up there with merchants that are surprised they’ve gotten no sales because they made a website so therefore money should be coming in.
When no plan is communicated there’s almost always magical thinking involved that wont survive a first brush with reality.
Really step back re-read your post, what’s the pitch here.
That some influencer is gonna do what exactly?
gonna hold up a screen of their own shopify-admin like a skin-cream bottle to divulge to other merchants how that influencer runs their shopify business???
READ: does the influencer have to be paying for a shopify plan.
If they themselves don’t need to be a merchant and can pitch X like a physical product, or a software product, then you just need to look in every other marketing space on the internet with pre-existing knowledge on influencer based marketing.
THEN and ONLY then dial into shopify, showing your work.
I’m not saying influencer marketing it isn’t a viable area of marketing.
Yet every time I’ve ever seen a post like this that doesn’t come correct with an actual business model upfront it peters out because it boils down to: how make moneys.
Congrats on launching a new Shopify app — that’s no small milestone
When it comes to influencer growth, there are usually two main approaches.
The first is using affiliate marketing platforms. With this model, creators promote your product on a performance basis, often without upfront cost, and tracking and reporting are more automated.
The second option is finding influencers manually through tools or social platforms, but this requires you to handle outreach, follow-ups, and performance tracking yourself, which can become time-consuming. For this reason, affiliate marketing platforms are often the more efficient option for finding creators that match your target audience and managing the process.
For deal structure, the most sustainable setup is usually a revenue share combined with a flat fee, but in the early stages it’s smarter to start with revenue share only to reduce risk. Affiliate platforms allow you to test this model at no cost and then add fixed fees once you see which creators actually drive results. In terms of deliverables, demo or “how it works” content tends to outperform simple promotional posts.
What ultimately determines results are link clicks from influencer content and how many of those clicks convert into installs or purchases. Visibility alone matters less than measurable actions. From a tooling perspective, the key isn’t which platform you use, but whether you can clearly track links, clicks, and conversions. Tools like Shopify Collabs or goadgo can help keep this process organized and measurable. Typically, ROI signals start to appear within the first 2–4 weeks, and the model can be optimized as data comes in.
