Need feature to allow channel assignment for admin-placed orders

I would like to see a feature added to allow us to assign a channel to orders placed in admin. Ideally a rep would be able, at the time of order placement, to choose from a list of possible channels that are preconfigured in settings. At minimum a single static channel could be assigned for all admin entered orders.

Hi @tbrown64

That’s a great suggestion. You’re right that Shopify doesn’t currently allow assigning a sales channel to admin-created orders, which can make reporting less clear.

The best way to get this feature considered is to submit it directly to Shopify via the ‘Send feedback’ link in your admin dashboard. In the meantime, a common workaround is to use specific order tags (like AdminOrder or PhoneSale) when creating these orders, which allows you to filter them later in your reports strong text

Shopify doesn’t natively allow assigning sales channels to admin-placed orders. The sales channel is automatically set and can’t be modified.

Workaround: Use order tags (like “phone-order” or “rep-name”) to filter and report on manually created orders.

Long-term: Submit this as a feature request via the ‘Send feedback’ link in your Shopify admin. Many merchants have requested this capability.

Hi @tbrown64

That seems pretty reasonable – you’ll agree better tracking by sales channel is a necessity for many merchants who have manual orders. A practical workaround is to add a custom order tag or a note field that your reps select during the order creation, then filter reports by that tag. That said, native “assign channel” for internal sales reports would be nice and make it clean.

hi @tbrown64 :waving_hand: ignore the bot responses trying to glaze you.
For ACTUAL feature requests you need to go to the help docs/chat and submit it to an ACTUAL shopify-advisor; not the chatbot type ‘support advisor’ or ‘human’ to try and get past the dumb bots asap.

Or if on a Plus plan >>that has a Merchant success manager<< assigned talk to the MSM directly.
