Need Help Creating Common Product Identifiers in Google Reviews and Google Shopping Ads

I use Judge.Me to collect reviews on my website. I love the app and it’s working well for me.

However, I’m running into trouble with Google due to differences in product identifiers in my Google Shopping Ads Feed and my Google Product Ratings Review Feed. I’ve emailed Google for support and this is what they’ve told me:

"Please follow this link (see below) for more information on how to modify the feed further, or visit our Help Center Article to learn more about strong product identifiers.

I have also checked your latest feed and as of now it does not contain sufficient common identifiers. Let me explain this in detail.

Your Product Ratings (Review) Feed contains Brand values “Honey Brook Tools and Woodworks”, MPNs “15756107354021”, SKUs "15756107354021"and URLs. On the other hand your Shopping Ads Feed contains Brand “Honey Brook Tools and Woodworks”, Item IDs ¨shopify_US_8029963485413_43456154697957¨, Item Group IDs “shopify_US_8029963485413” and URLs.

As you can see, the values of identifiers in both the feeds are in different formats. Due to the lack of common identifiers your feed runs on low performance and your reviews are not live.

Hence, please ensure that the submitted identifiers in both the feeds are the same for products and their corresponding reviews."

All of my products are hand made and therefore don’t have GTINs or MPNs. They are assigned SKUs in Shopify. I’m hoping someone can explain to me like I’m a toddler how to remedy this. I believe I’ve found the feeds that are referenced but I can’t figure out how to resolve the conflict between the two.

I’m losing my mind. :joy:

The issue is that your product IDs don’t match in both feeds.

To fix this, make sure your Judge. Me review feed uses the same Item ID as your Google Shopping Feed.

Then, update and resubmit the feed to Google.

Let me know if you need help.

Hi-

Thank you. I’m understanding the problem now but am uncertain how to correct it. I’ve gone to Merchant Center to look at the Google Shopping Feed but I’m honestly lost in terms of how to make the changes.

This is what I see for my Data Source:

Then when I click on a data source there’s a tab for custom attributes:

Am I even in the right place to fix this??

Hey Will! This usually happens when Google sees different product IDs in your Shopping Feed vs your Judgeme review feed. Even if everything else matches, if the IDs aren’t identical, Google won’t link the reviews.

You’re looking in the right place in Merchant Center, but you can’t change those IDs from there, they have to match at the feed level.

So the fix is basically:

  1. Check which ID your Google Shopping feed is using (usually Shopify product or variant ID).

  2. Make sure your review feed uses that exact same ID value.

  3. Resubmit the review feed → Google will accept it once the IDs line up.

Judgeme sometimes outputs SKUs instead of the product ID, which causes exactly what you’re seeing. A tool like Review2XML let you pick the identifier yourself so the feed always matches what Google expects.
