Need help finding app for food subscription service

Topic summary

A food subscription service is seeking a Shopify app solution to manage recurring deliveries of a single product using their own drivers. The business needs to create subscription bundles where customers select specific delivery days (e.g., Tuesdays and Thursdays) for a monthly period.

Key Requirements:

  • Generate separate orders for each scheduled delivery day within a subscription period
  • Integrate with Lionwheel (driver coordination/routing) and Fresh KDS (supplier order management)
  • Support flexible scheduling options (multiple days per week or single weekly deliveries)
  • Enable auto-renewal functionality

Recommended Solutions:

Recharge Subscriptions: Offers custom intervals, delivery date flexibility, product bundling, and robust API integration capabilities. However, pricing can be high for advanced features.

Seal Subscriptions: More affordable alternative with API support and integration with Shopify bundle apps. User-friendly interface but less customizable customer portal compared to Recharge.

Appstle Subscriptions: Also suggested for automating recurring orders with scheduled delivery support.

The discussion remains open with no confirmed solution selected yet.

Okay so we are a food subscription service for a certain popular food. We want to move our operations to Shopify.

How it works is we have our own delivery drivers and a relationship with the business that makes the food. We only deliver this one food product and nothing else.

What we need to do is create a bundle where the customer can order, for example, this particular food to their door, on certain days, on a monthly subscription basis. So basically, for example, for January 2025, A customer orders a January 2025 subscription service for Tues/Thurs, which is 2 days per week. In that month, the bundle will include delivery on the (4) Tuesdays and (5) Thursdays in the January, with auto renew. The bundle is basically priced for a one day delivery x 9. There are different options as well as once per week on a specific day, and so on.

I will be using Lionwheel and Fresh KDS for my apps. Lionwheel to coordinate deliveries and Fresh KDS to send the orders to the company we have a relationship with that makes the food.

What I need and what I am asking for is a solution where the bundle will include Qty 1 for each delivery day, with a date, and when the customer purchases the bundle, then on our side, the order generates, in this scenario, (9) separate orders that get sent to Lionwheel to assign drivers to and route on those days and also send to Fresh KDS so the supplier can coordinate fulfillment on those days.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I could do that and which apps would work? Thank you so much. I can’t figure this one out.

Hi @MrTrial

This is Ellie from BOGOS, the #1 Shopify Promotion app.

Here are my app recommendations for you:

  1. Recharge subscription:
  • Flexibility in terms of defining custom subscription intervals, frequencies, and delivery dates

  • The app also allows for product bundling within their setup

  • Powerful APIs to help you integrate with Lionwheel etc

  • However, the app can be a little pricey, especially for advanced features

  1. Seal Subscription
  • Affordable app!

  • Provides API and has been integrated with some Shopify bundles app on the market

  • Easy to use, intuitive interface

  • The app’s customer portal can be basic compare to advanced, highly customized app like Recharge

Depending on your needs, you can choose a a suitable app for your store!

You can try Appstle Subscriptions or Recharge Subscriptions to automate recurring orders and integrate with Lionwheel and Fresh KDS. These apps allow scheduled deliveries and can generate separate orders for each delivery day. I run a food-related site, sonicdrivenmenus.com/sonic-drive-in-app, and have seen how important scheduling is for customers. Hope this helps.
