Need help to hide the express checkout buttons from the first checkout page

I have followed the tutorial to add the code in both cart.liquid and theme.scss.liquid

https://community.shopify.com/c/blog/remove-the-express-checkout-buttons-from-first-checkout-page/ba-p/1200898

But the express checkout buttons are still there

Here are the screenshots that we have already added the codes

Any clue to check why it not work? Many thanks. Here is our website flagseller.co.nz

Greetings, @Flag_Seller .

Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!

I understand you’re looking to hide the accelerated checkout buttons from the first page of checkout, and the tutorial that you’ve found didn’t work. It is possible that the snippet of code works; however, this could depend on the theme you’re using. Which theme are you using at the moment?

If you’re using a Shopify-supported theme, then this something that our Theme Support team can help you with. It’s also important to note that your store needs to be subscribed to a plan in order to be eligible to use the complimentary design time offered by our Theme Support. While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit the Shopify Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request.

If you’re using a third-party or custom theme, then we’d first recommend checking with the theme developer on support with your theme. However, if the developer doesn’t offer customization support, then you can consider hiring a developer to assist you with this. If you need help finding a developer, I’d recommend taking a look at our directory of certified developers on Shopify Experts.

I’d love to know if this helps point you in the right direction. Keep me posted!

Thanks for your reply Elias, we use the free “Supply” theme. I feel that it is a more like a setting issue of shopify. When we select the “must have an account for ordering” option, the express buttons should be automatically hidden. They are more likely to be used by people who don’t want to register.

Hey, @Flag_Seller .

Thank you for following up and sharing this suggestion!

I can understand why you feel that the accelerated checkout buttons should be automatically hidden when your store has Accounts are required ('Settings > Checkout’) enabled, and I’d be happy to pass this suggestion along to our developers as a feature request. That being said, the Accounts are required feature forces all customers to create an account, so no one would be able to use the accelerated checkout without signing up as well.

Since you are using a Shopify-supported theme, then hiding the accelerated checkout buttons from the first page of checkout is something that our Theme Support team can help you with. Please get in touch with our Support team through the Shopify Help Center and let them know that you’d like to have this customization request sent to our Theme Support.

Keep me posted. Cheers!
