Hello Shopify Community,
We are currently managing our inventory on Shopify and would like to implement a feature that automatically updates the product availability status to “SOLD OUT” when the stock quantity reaches 0. Additionally, we need assistance in creating a metafield that will be automatically removed from the product when the stock quantity increases to 1 or more.
Here’s a breakdown of the functionality we are seeking:
-
Auto-update to “SOLD OUT”: When a product’s stock quantity reaches 0, we want the product availability status to be automatically changed to “SOLD OUT.” This update should be visible on the product page to inform customers that the item is no longer available for purchase.
-
Metafield for “SOLD OUT” Status: We understand that using metafields can help achieve this functionality. However, we need guidance on how to manage metafields effectively for this purpose.
-
Auto-removal of Metafield: Once the product’s stock quantity is increased to 1 or more, we would like the metafield responsible for the “SOLD OUT” status to be automatically removed. This will ensure that the product availability is accurately reflected based on its stock quantity.
We believe this feature will streamline our inventory management process and provide a better shopping experience for our customers by displaying accurate product availability information.
Technical Details: Our store is built on Shopify, and we’re using the Dawn theme. We would greatly appreciate your expertise in guiding us through the process of setting up metafields and implementing the auto-update and auto-removal functionalities.
If anyone has experience with similar implementations or knows of any third-party apps that can help us achieve this, we’d be extremely grateful for your assistance.
