I’m having trouble completing the ID verification on my Shopify account. The automatic verification process keeps failing, and I’m not sure what else to do.
Someone told me to email support to ask for a manual review or override, which I’m doing, but I also wanted to ask here in case anyone has dealt with this before.
Has anyone had this issue and gotten it resolved?
What steps did you take?
Was there a specific support team or process that helped speed things up?
I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance. Thanks in advance.
For ID verification issues, this isn’t something we can fix from our end—only Shopify Support can handle it.
The best way forward is to contact Shopify Support directly through their official channels. I recommend going to the Shopify Help Center, as their team can review your case and escalate it if needed.
Hey @steve , yes .. this happens to quite a few people during Shopify ID verification, especially when the automated system can’t clearly match the document details or image quality.
A few things that usually help:
• Make sure the name on your Shopify account exactly matches the name on your ID
• Re-upload the document using a clear photo with good lighting and no cropped edges
• Avoid screenshots or edited images …Shopify normally rejects those automatically
• If you’re using a VPN or different country IP, try disabling it before retrying verification
• Double check that your document hasn’t expired
You’re already doing the right thing by contacting support for a manual review. In many cases, the Trust & Safety or Account Verification team has to manually review the documents when the automated system keeps failing.
What helped some users speed things up was:
• Replying directly to the existing support ticket instead of opening multiple tickets
• Clearly explaining that automatic verification failed repeatedly
• Attaching high quality copies of the ID again in the support email
• Asking support to escalate the case to the verification team for manual review
Usually once a real agent reviews it manually, the issue gets resolved faster than retrying the automatic process over and over.
