Need my domain traffic to be sent automatically to Shopify sight, the opposite is happening now after I fiddled with the DNS servers. Help!

All of my small business traffic to my domain sight should be going to my Shopify website. However the opposite is now happening (Shopify being sent to domain) and when I type in my domain name I am not sent to Shopify where my business website is. Please help! I am extremely technology handicapped so please phrase in simple ways. Thank you

Can you please confirm if you have add the redirection to the main domain? Also, can you please provide the Shopify website link and the domain link?

Don’t worry, this is a very common mix-up and it is easy to fix. To fix this, you just need to do two things:

  1. First, in your Shopify admin, go to Settings >Domains and make sure your custom domain is set as the “Primary domain.”

  2. Second, log in to your domain provider’s website (where you bought the domain) and find the “DNS Settings.” You must edit two records:

  • Change the A record (the host is usually @) to point to Shopify’s IP address: 23.227.38.65

  • Change the CNAME record (the host is www) to point to: shops.myshopmify.com

After you save these changes, it can take a few hours to update, but your domain will then correctly point to your Shopify store.
