Hello Shopify Developers & Shopify Team,
We’re building a 1-Click COD Form public app for the Shopify App Store.
The purpose of our app is simple: make Cash on Delivery ordering faster and easier for both merchants and customers.
However, our app was rejected under App Store requirement 1.1.2 (Use Shopify Checkout) because our implementation collected the customer’s shipping details in a popup form and created the order without the buyer going through Shopify’s native checkout.
After speaking with Shopify Developer Support, we were told that this buyer-facing flow is considered a checkout bypass.
Our confusion is this:
There are already many approved public apps on the Shopify App Store that appear to provide the exact same user experience, including:
- Releasit COD Form & Upsells
- EasySell COD Form & Upsells
- CodForm – COD Form & Upsells
- COD Form & Upsells: COD Rocket
- Madgic COD Form & Upsells
- Priya COD Form: Made In India
- COD Form & Upsell – CodMonster
- EasyOrder COD Form & Order Form
- ScalOrder COD Form & Upsells
- Codify COD Form Upsell Fraud
- Preventify: COD Form & Upsells
- Yashipe COD Form
- FormBoost COD Form & Upsells
Some of these apps were approved very recently like last month, and some were launched in 2026.
From the buyer’s perspective, these apps appear to collect shipping information through a popup COD form on the product page and then take the customer directly to the Thank You page without displaying Shopify’s native checkout.
We are not asking Shopify to disclose any proprietary implementation of these apps.
We are simply requesting official guidance.
If this category of public apps is available on the Shopify App Store, then there must be a Shopify-supported implementation that allows them to exist while complying with App Store policies.
Our questions are:
1. What is the officially supported architecture for building a compliant 1-Click COD Form app?
2. Which Shopify APIs, Checkout Extensibility features, or other supported mechanisms should public apps use to achieve this experience?
3. Is there an officially supported way to redirect customers directly to the Thank You page after submitting a COD form while remaining compliant?
4. If not, could Shopify clarify why so many public apps appear to provide this exact experience?
Our intention is not to challenge App Review or compare ourselves with other developers.
We simply want to build our app in the correct Shopify-supported way so that it complies with all policies.
If anyone from the Shopify Developer Relations, Engineering, or App Review teams can provide official technical guidance, it would help not only us but many developers building 1-Click COD Form solutions.
Thank you.
