Need to Attach Documents to Companies in B2B

We need a way to attach documents that are specific to a company to that company in Shopify B2B. Contracts and other documents are critical to our business.

Hi Tara,

The easiest way to do this is by adding a custom metafield on companies or company locations.

  1. In the admin, go to Settings
  2. Select “Custom data” - you’ll see a list of resources that can be metafields can be added to
  3. Scroll down to either “Companies” (if you want to store the docs at the company level) or “Company locations” (to store per location)
  4. Select “Companies” (or company locations)
  5. Press the “Add definition” button
  6. Fill in a name for the metafield such as “contract documents”
  7. Optionally enter in a “Description”
  8. Press “Select type”
  9. Scroll down until you see “File” under Reference types
  10. You will return to the metafield definition screen
  11. You can then select either “One file” or “List of files” - if you want to attach more than one document per company, use “List of files”
  12. Scroll further to “Validations”
  13. Select “Accept all file types” if you want to upload more than just images or vides (such as PDFs or others)
  14. If you don’t plan to make the new metafield available on Storefronts (buyer side), then uncheck the button next to “Read” in “Access” options
  15. Press “Save” and now if you return to Company (or company location) you’ll see the new metafield available and can use it to attach documents

You can attach documents using Company or Company Location metafields using metafields type ‘file’.

Thank you… I feel like a goober, I use metafields for products and for some reason didn’t think about doing that with companies. :+1:
