100% agree! I would be more than happy to partake in any surveys or chats for feedback on usability. I’m 5 1/2 years in with Shopify and use the admin page multiple times a day, 7 days a week. This new layout is such a downgrade.
Topic summary
Merchants report the newly rolled-out Shopify Admin home redesign (single-column layout replacing the right sidebar) significantly reduces at-a-glance business visibility and usability. Many request an option to revert to the previous layout and for changes to be beta-tested with users.
Key regressions cited:
- Sales graph: switched from bar to line; harder to see daily and monthly simultaneously; requests for defaulting to sales (not traffic) and for comparisons to last year.
- Metrics removed/hidden: checkout funnel (adds to cart/checkout), Shopify Capital details (past payouts/current balance), broader dashboard KPIs once shown in the right pane.
- Navigation/controls: some report missing top-left menu, “Theme” under Settings not visible, and prior removal of search bars in Orders/Products adds extra steps.
Accessibility and workarounds:
- Smaller text noted by users with vision issues; a Chrome zoom tip was shared as a temporary fix.
Context and references:
- Some link the change to Shopify’s Summer 2023 event description. Images were posted comparing old vs new dashboards.
Requests and status:
- Bring back the right sidebar or allow a rollback/toggle; restore lost metrics and bar graph. Users tagged Shopify for comment and linked a related thread. No official response noted here; issue remains unresolved.
