New Customer Account Marketing Opt in Missing

I’ve noted that when creating an account through the new customers account with pin function, this account wont be subscribed to the newsletter missing the welcome mail entirely. Can i solve this somehow? in a way that the created accounts get an option to subscribe to the newsletter so they can get their welcome discount?

that seems like it should work from the little i know but i cant get anywhere with the editor to edit the code in that page. can you explain how to navigate to where i paste this code?

from what i gather here its not possible to edit that page.

  1. Go to Online Store
  2. Edit Code
  3. Find main-register.liquid file

Thanks a lot for the further reply. Bear with me, am i right or this will do it so that everyone creating an account would be sign up? im looking to give an opt in option to click on it would let you subscribe.
