New customer accounts are being automatically activated without sending email for activation

When a new user creates an account, they are receiving the Customer Account Welcome email immediately. They are not receiving any Customer Account Invite email. Any reason why this might be happening? We are not using any external apps for email.

Hello @prakum ,

Here is a few thing you can try to do:

  • Verify Email Settings:
Double-check the email notification settings in your Shopify admin to ensure that both the “Customer account welcome” and “Customer account invite” notifications are enabled and have the correct templates set up.
  • Check Manual Invitation Process:
If you are manually inviting customers to create accounts, make sure you are following the correct steps to send the invitations. You can invite customers by going to Customers > Invite Customers in your Shopify admin.
  • Test Account Creation Flow:
Create a test account on your store and observe the email notifications received. This will help you identify if any customizations or apps are affecting the email flow.

Hope these can help.

Thanks Transcy,

Checked all above points. However, regarding your first point, I dont see a checkbox beside “Customer account invite” and “Customer account welcome” . I am guessing they are enabled by default as I am getting “Customer account welcome” emails.

Regarding your second point, I am not sending manual invitations to customers.

Thanks for your time.

Please check the type of customer account you have activated from shopidy settings panel.
For classic customers the invite mail is sent and then the welcome mail
But for New customer type account directly welcome mail is sent once the user logs in using the 6 digit verification code sent to their mail.

Thanks

Hi there, did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same issue, thanks
