New dev looking for info on process

Hello All,

I’m about to start my first site for a client, and I have some questions about the process. Any advice is welcome:

  • I setup a dev site but it says it’s non-transferable. How do I make a dev site that can be turned into a live site?
  • How does my client sign up for an account without being charged the monthly fee while the site is in development?
  • What is the process for transferring a site from dev to prod?
  • How can my client purchase apps that I need to use in development?
  • How can my client purchase a theme that I will need to use in development?

As I say, this is my first Shopify site. I have been developing WordPress and Drupal sites for years, but never on a SAAS platform. I would hate to advise my client to purchase a theme of apps in his account that I wouldn’t be able to transfer to my dev account for development.

I really need help understanding the process for having my client purchase the theme and apps for my use in development. I don’t want my credit card to be charged each month for the apps used. What is the right way to do this?
