Need a help to understand what is the best way out when we need to revamp the existing shopify store with a new UI, how we can begin the development, what are the best pratices? whether we should create a new store with exporting the existing stack there or add a new theme in the existing store? or any other soultion which imparts a smooth development and dones’t hamper the current website
You can select a template to suit your needs and then make a secondary development of a copy of the template based on your ui design drawings. While making the secondary development, your original template can be used online.
When the secondary development is complete, you can then upload your new template.
This new development is a compelte overhaul, right from new theme, UI, Apps so just don’t want to mess up with the live version and also to have a smooth development . so little skeptical of this approach

I think you are telling to have a copy of the theme file in the same store and do a development in that and the publish it back ?
Of course, if you are not ready to go live with your shop, you can also copy a template, keep the original template, then do a second development of the copied template and then configure it when you have finished the second development.
The disadvantage of copying a template is that you cannot synchronise the online configuration, so it is advisable to complete the template first and then configure it before going live.

Thanks for the reply, We do this soultion if there are minor changes here and there of the current version, but when its a comeplte overhaul where the changes are for new theme, new layouts and new apps interngration, along with various other new pages, doing this way would be difficult i feel.
Because if we do secondary development, we all copy a template and develop it offline, because then it doesn’t affect the online. When all the functionality and style tests are error free, we will choose whether to copy it online or just release the template.

So Secondary Development you are referring to a Offiline Developmet? Local enviorment? through Shopify CIL exporting the theme and importing it back with the new changes? let me know if i have understood it right?
It can be understood that general style modifications, as long as you have enough confidence in your front-end skills, can be made directly to the online version.
As to whether you go through shopify cli or what, this is all up to your habits. As long as you can achieve the purpose can be.
