I didn’t think of that but agree with you. Adding to cart is more important than details. Also, different use case but similar UI failure: adding an existing customer should be primary over typing in a new customer; cursor focus should default to the search field

Disagree with the second part you wrote about the search bar. There’s an X there you can use. But often we need to add another item similar to the first item and keeping the text there saves retyping the details.
