New forum system issues ,who dis? access to old system&design? Where are shopify stickied posts?...

Is there way to access the old forum design? (lithium, not the old OLD forum)

If a/b 'ing I’d definitely want to opt out if possible.

Immediately obvious new user issues

1. Horrible contrast of of post text being a light grey.
2. New design is cramped on desktop because the sidebar is HUGE taking up 1/3 of the page with annoying distraction( at least for windows,chrome,1366x768). Overly greedy sidebar antipattern, visual weight the thing at least please.
3. Notification and private message icons in header have weirdly short click dimensions(12px?!?), maybe because of trying to adjust for the count icon overlay. can we please have nice fat touch/click 48x48px areas of the links for the space they have for us clumsy people.
4. Getting to the subforum category’s page is now extra scrolling to the footer, or twice the clicks instead of clicking logo to hit community.shopify.com , or pixel hunting links in the breadcrumb to go “up” in categories.
5. Cannot see or intuit how to find shopify’s sticky posts
6. Design/theme questions STILL don’t give any prompts about asking for store url and theme name and storefront password, or link to the help-us-help you sticky post. It’s been a decade that friction has bogged down the time of support and merchants alike ; across 10’s of thousands of questions or more; it needs to be managed better instead of allowed to hemorrhage yet another decade.
7. Still not sure where to view and manage profile media
   1. can kind of view profile media through the profiles avatar setting page but that’s weird usage
8. “Blog” category on homepage links to empty content, hide top categories that are empty until ready to debut

   1. subcategories are not grouped ,i.e. all Shopify Plus features together
   2. Shopify Plus categories description does not indicate they are for shopify plus
      1. either there’s an announcement coming or those forums will get more noise and confusion in them if not EXPLICIT in their requirement
   3. Categories - having to click “view more” to see all subforums is obnoxious as that is that pages main feature lead vs all other pages that also have the recent discussions section.
      1. If categories are shifted around PLEASE make sure site speed stays above the fold and outside of disclosures so that continues to create dividends.
10. See a the linear/threaded layout option in preference but not sure how to use
11. After awhile Please shorten the forums header bottom-hero-banner or a setting to shorten/disable it.
12. Still no way to edit a post to move a post from the wrong forum

Editor

1. Urls no longer automatically autoformat into links
2. Preview button isn’t visible enough in post editor.
3. The preview text is greyed out, meanwhile signatures stay the same looking darker
4. Label assignment form is sloooow to show matching results
   1. the funny part there is the slower the match results the more label ambiguities will people will add to the system increasing the results to be returned, rinse, repeat. And of course it’s a messy list of randomly entered unstructured info but that’s different beast to tame /sigh
5. Label assignment form weird selection behavior if mouse is over results list while typing.
6. The CONTENT text of the post you are replying below the edit area to is in tiny gray font, but profile icon, buttons, and title are all nice and luxurious.

The good, quoting a post seems to consistently create new lines and not overwrite|clump current line text , yay.

Shopify staff are missing Profile photos and shopify badges

Post dates REALLY need to be at the top of posts so you can immediately date the age of response with a glance.

Reason: It’s obnoxious when you scroll a long post just to find it’s out of date by years.

When past the first page the previous/next topic links apear betwee the CONTENT and it’s REPLIES , that is confusing and weird.

We’re actively making changes based on feedback received internally, and externally as well as addressing issues that popped up post testing. I will be looking into each thing you shared here - stay tuned for updates.

When going to like a post with 0(zero) likes, if you mistakenly hover over only the number section of the button there’s a confusing crossed-circle stop cursor that makes it seem as if you cannot like the post which you will not figure out if you do not move mouse to the left over the thumbs-up.

0(zero) state should probably let you click the entirety of the like button, or the thumbs-up should nag with an animation/highlight/tooltip itself to draw intent to the left while the count is hovered.

Issue might be quick clicks, debounce, when the disabled 0 changes to a 1 (which links to the who-gave-likes) it’ll get clicked by the successive clicks that will cause a navigation.

“Copy” action for formatted code appears UNDER the code and no longer inside the area.

Reads kind of confusing as it’s almost in the flow with the normal text.

Post body cards (see embed markedup screenshot)

1. Show the sub-forum name while in that subforum
2. Dates should always be 1 of the first elements near a title never a second class system , age context matters a lot. before or next to title, or above in place of subforum name.
3. User name is disconnected from profile pic , luxurious whitespace under profile pic
4. Variable length user names shift the date around where it currently resides, so lots of eye darting when aging posts.
5. Replies context - No longer indicates last poster or provide link to last post i.e. page number
   1. this is important in long threads or some boards , example on the job board or design forum seeing who that last poster is can immediately tell me if a merchant is getting good community responses or shopify support responses, or in some case swamped by noise.

OMG, a great change private messages can actually be threaded!

The "Send message " action shows for ?new? users with private messages disabled, 1st image.

Before it was clear by omission if you could PM someone or not.

When trying to then send message in the rte it will generate two errors, 2nd image:

• Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

• None of the users have PM enabled. Message will not be sent.

The “Send To” field is also not error highlighted when this occurs.

And the rte preview does not seem to work in this modal it tries to load then goes back to showing the rte, not sure if related to above condition or not.
