Hi, I am vey unhappy about Shopfify migrating away from Order Pirinter (legacy) because your new Order Printer app is useless to me. I do not WANT to learn code and would like my code from the original Order printer (Legacy) to work! Why not offer a WYSIWYG template builder? THAT would actually be useful! Instead of telling us what our paperwork ought to look like! I need to be able to have address fields in the right place for our label paper, and suddenly I have to be a coder to do that? Load of nonsense! NOT happy, Shopify developers. NOT HAPPY!
There seem to be many complaints about the Shopify Order Printer. You might consider using a third-party app from Shopify. These apps typically do not require coding and offer many additional features to enhance your orders and invoices. If your number of orders is not high, you can use the free plan of these apps or charge a few dollars to use full advanced features.
Hi JuneN
I have started paying for Order Printerpro (the original Order Printer Developers) but Shopify prevents them from accessing some of the features we find really helpful - like how many orders that customer has placed in the past. Our pickers use that information to add small gifts.
Ironically the new order printer app doesn’t even adrerss that informtion in its layouts either so why they can’t allow third party developer to access it is a mystery to me.
I and many others are feeling the same frustrations you are. While I personally have no issue with the coding aspect, I do think it is ridiculous that Shopify seems to expect their userbase to be able to migrate these templates they have relied upon for years without issue.
My concern lies more in what the new app cannot do - Simple things such as page breaks and float positioning either no longer work at all or significantly break the layout when used. Custom scripts are now blocked despite the legacy app supporting them for half a decade or more. Through helping people on these forums over the past week I’ve discovered the new app can no longer see tip line items which makes it much more difficult for merchants to include thank you messages - And more importantly, means the line item subtotal price will now look incorrect because order printer cannot display the tip amount.
I strongly recommend anyone reading this who is unhappy with the new order printer app do two things:
- Create a support ticket for the issues you’re personally experiencing. I recommend using the email option instead of live chat as I and many others have had issues with poor support through that method
- Leave an honest review on the new order printer app’s store page. Be specific about the aspects you are unhappy with so Shopify knows what needs to be fixed
In 3 months they will sunset the legacy app and I worry that they will not address the many issues their users are facing unless they are encouraged by an influx of (honest) negative reviews and support tickets.
Hi @Rube1 ,
Shopify does not limit any features like “how many orders that customer”. Order Printer Pro is an amazing app but it’s very limited to the data the rest api provides. Which is why we created Pixi Order Printer. It lets you pick any data you want from Shopify using their graphql API (Plus a bunch of other features).
I have made a small video for you how to do it in Pixi:
We also have:
-
A full no code editor (which is defined by schema like shopify themes)
-
Multiple Templates
-
Support to help you migrate your existing template (Reach out to us and we will do it for you)
